Opportunity-stage updates should target an existing deal by CRM ID and use a stage that belongs to the correct pipeline. LC Bridge’s early-access design previews eligible worksheet edits before an explicit update action. A spreadsheet stage label by itself is not enough to authorize or identify the change.
Keep pipeline and stage together
Two pipelines can have stages with the same display label. A row that says “Qualified” is therefore not a complete mapping. Keep the source pipeline context and verified stage identity with the opportunity.
Make sure you are editing an opportunity rather than a contact record. One contact may have several deals. Moving the wrong deal can make a clean-looking worksheet produce the wrong operational result.
Start with an explicit business operation
Choose a bounded task: move a reviewed set of existing deals into the next supported stage, correct ownership, or update recorded value. Avoid making broad edits simply because the spreadsheet makes thousands of cells easy to select.
In the worksheet, retain the original opportunity IDs and keep analysis-only columns separate. If a mapping needs attention, resolve it in the update preview instead of assuming that text labels will be accepted as provider IDs.
Preview the exact affected deals
The planned journey is Worksheet → Preview changes → Export Preview → Update the displayed number of rows in CRM. Check the opportunity title, matching ID, field, old value, and proposed value. An invalid stage, inaccessible record, or changed permission should be resolved before confirmation.
A preview describes the proposed updates at a point in time. If the source has changed, refresh the review. Merely enabling update permission or reconnecting the account must not send pending edits.
Check the reporting consequences
Changing a current stage changes the open pipeline view. It does not manufacture a historical stage-entry event. Stage conversion and completed time in stage need observed transitions and an explicit observation window.
Similarly, changing a deal’s status or value can affect sales reporting according to the report’s chosen date basis. Read the metric definition before assuming that a revised total represents collected revenue or a historical audit log.
Example: the same stage name in two pipelines
Suppose both “Services” and “Renewals” contain a stage called “Proposal.” An opportunity in Services must reference the eligible stage for Services. Reusing a display label from another pipeline does not establish the correct destination.
| Target | Current | Proposed | Review |
|---|---|---|---|
| opp-example-service | Services / Qualified | Services / Proposal | Verify stage identity and current source |
| opp-example-renewal | Renewals / Qualified | Services / Proposal | Stop and resolve the pipeline mismatch |
A confirmed stage change is a business action. Record which operation was accepted before trying the affected rows again.
Inspect results before running another batch
After an actual update, review the outcome for each affected record. Handle a validation failure separately from a request whose result is uncertain. The latter needs a check against the source or original operation receipt before another attempt.
The open sample dashboards let you evaluate pipeline and team views without making CRM changes. The connected update flow remains an early-access capability with provider acceptance required before live use.
